XLR Connector
The XLR connector (also Cannon plug and Cannon connector) is a type of electrical connector primarily used in professional audio, video, and stage lighting equipment. XLR connectors are cylindrical, with three to seven connector pins, and are often employed for analog balanced audio interconnections, AES3 digital audio, portable intercom, DMX512 lighting control, and for low-voltage power supply. XLR connectors are part of the international standard for dimensions, International Electrotechnical Commission, IEC 61076-2-103. The XLR connector resembles the DIN connector, but is larger, more robust and physically incompatible. The generic term "XLR" began as a trademark of Cannon (company), Cannon Electric, with the letters standing for X model connector with an added "L"atch feature, and "R"esilient neoprene rubber surrounding the female contacts. History and manufacturers The XLR connector was invented by James H. Cannon#James H. Cannon, James H. Cannon, founder of the Cannon ...

Megas XLR
''Megas XLR'' is an American animated television series created by Jody Schaeffer and George Krstic for Cartoon Network. The series revolves around two slackers: mechanic Coop and his best friend Jamie, who find a mecha robot from the future called MEGAS (''Mechanized Earth Guard Attack System'') in a Jersey City, New Jersey junkyard. Coop modifies Megas and replaces his head, the control center, with a classic muscle car, and names him XLR (''eXtra Large Robot''). Together with Megas's original pilot Kiva, they must defend Earth from the evil alien race called "the Glorft". The series is an homage and parody of mecha anime. Krstic was originally one of the co-creators of MTV's ''Downtown''. The pilot episode, ''LowBrow'', was shown in 2002 during Cartoon Network's ''Cartoon Cartoon Weekend Summerfest'', to determine which pilot ...

X-linked Recessive Inheritance
''Main Article'': Sex linkage X-linked recessive inheritance is a mode of inheritance in which a mutation in a gene on the X chromosome causes the phenotype to be always expressed in males (who are necessarily hemizygous for the gene mutation because they have one X and one Y chromosome) and in females who are homozygous for the gene mutation (see zygosity). Females with one copy of the mutated gene are carriers. X-linked inheritance means that the gene causing the trait or the disorder is located on the X chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes while males have one X and one Y chromosome. Carrier females who have only one copy of the mutation do not usually express the phenotype, although differences in X-chromosome inactivation (known as skewed X-inactivation) can lead to varying degrees of clinical expression in carrier females, since some cells will express one X allele and some will express the other. The current estimate of sequenced X-linked genes is 499, and the total, ...

XL (programming Language)
Christophe de Dinechin is a French computer scientist, with contributions in video games, programming languages and operating systems. Programming languages Dinechin contributed to C++, notably a high-performance exception handling implementation that became a de-facto standard in the industry. de Dinechin was one of the proponents of a portable C++ ABI, initially developed for Itanium, but now widely used across platforms. XL programming language Dinechin is the designer of the XL programming language and associated concept programming methodology. "XL" is named for "eXtensible Language". XL features programmer-reconfigurable syntax and semantics. Compiler plug-ins can be used to add new features to the language. A base set of plug-ins implements a relatively standard imperative language. Programmers can write their own plug-ins to implement application-specific notations, such as symbolic differentiation, which can then be used as readily as built-in language features ...
